My son, Ko Wong-Horiuchi recently traveled to India as a cultural diplomat representing the State Department for the organization Next Level. Next Level sends American hip-hop artists around the world to use music and dance to promote cultural exchange, entrepreneurship, and conflict prevention. Hip Hop is known as “street journalism.” As part of the Next Level Academy in Patna, Next Level artist-educators worked with the students of St. Karen’s to design Public Service Announcements (PSAs) around social issues that the students identified. These public service announcements were broadcast all over India.
